Embodied, 2020

Embodiment is the practice of full awareness of the self in the present moment. It is therefore a holistic experience of all physical sensations. If consciousness requires a body, embodiment is the reinforcement of consciousness. This is relevant in an age and society, where we are seemingly doing everything we can to not be here. We spend more time outside than inside of our selves. There is an increasing identification with the head-space, rather than the entire being one is. The powerful contrast between the covertly induced and outward posture of emotion and the inwardly directed and ultimately known status of human feeling provided an invaluable perspective for reflection on the biology of consciousness. Just like emotion, consciousness is aimed at the organism’s survival and it’s rooted in the representation of the body.
